She is 4!

Our sweet girl turned four a couple of days ago.  How can I tell you all there is to know and love about our E at 4 years old?  What a treasure she is, what a gift she is, what joy she brings!  Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude toward our Sovereign Lord from whom all good gifts come—including this precious one!

This girl loves playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls.  In fact, the other day, when asked what she was up to, she replied, “Playing with my friends.”  (Strawberry, Raspberry, Lemon and Orange).

She still loves taking care of her baby dolls… This has extended to her stuffed animals too.  Sometimes she can’t decide which 3 (we limit it) she wants to have in bed with her because she loves them all.

Pillow pet is reigning as the first pick, though his reign is being challenged by a new plush Cinderella doll she got for her birthday.

When she sleeps, she likes to have blankelie too. So Pillow Pet, Blankelie and two other stuffed animals.

One or two days a week, she’ll skip her nap.

She has become a champ at doing puzzles.  A 48 piece she can handle on her own, but likes to do more challenging ones with help from Mommy and Daddy.

She’ll never turn down painting or crafts.  She really is a great little artist.

Her memory is phenomenal!  I am always amazed at what she recalls.

Her comprehension of the world around her has drastically increased lately too.  I love having conversations with her…  I so enjoy hearing her perspective on life.

If you ask her to do something for you, her usual reply is “Sure!”

Not very many things get her upset… Except for clothes that are uncomfortable.  She has a pretty even temperament.  You can expect to find her in a state of joy or concentration.

Candy Land is her favorite game.

She loves her purple dress that twirls and her giraffe print dress.  She almost always wears her hello kitty watch.

She prefers a headband in her hair.

All things glittery, twirly, pink, and lots of jewelry make up her style.  She is always trying to get me to wear her lip gloss and her jewelry when we go out.  Bless her little soul.

Dancing is her joy!

She loves BIble stories and can handle some chapter books now.  We just finished Charlotte’s Web.

She is brave.  While sledding in the snow, she had to try sledding with no hands, sledding on her belly, and sledding backwards.  (She is pretty scared to be around dogs right now though.)

She knows her letters and most of their sounds and is starting to sound out words a bit.

Cinderella is her favorite movie.  Strawberry shortcake is her favorite tv show.

The go-to activities:  building castles and hide and seek.

Immediate smiles occur when she swings on the double swing outside.

Baby girl, you are turning into a beautiful young lady.  I see God’s work in your life.  I pray that you serve him with your heart, soul, and mind.  I am humbled by how quick you are to forgive, how kind you are to your brother, how tender you are when he is hurting or sad, how encouraging you are when he succeeds.  My heart is ripped wide open and left bare by your sweet kisses, by your prayers thanking God for everything in the world, by your quickness in learning the Word, by your friendship and by your adoration for Daddy.

Never could we have imagined what these four years would hold for us.  Never could we have fathomed the love we have for this child.  How quickly we would shield her and suffer in her place if ever she has a hurt.  How wholly we rejoice in her delight.  How our hearts swell with pride at her growth and accomplishments.  How much more our Father in heaven must love us with His perfect, unconditional love.
