As we got out of the city, we noticed that the materials for the homes went from brick, and wood and metal to some sort of mud or thatch with a metal roof, then to a grass roof. Beautiful scenery again...
What a view to have from your back yard, huh?!
Sometimes the homes looked like metal sheets propped up
Making bundles to stack on their donkeys, or to carry themselves.
More homes. You can see the beginnings of a fence around the one home. A lot of the places had fences made out of posts or skinny trees.
A small city outside of Addis. It was so neat to drive through "nothing" and then stumble across a little town like this. Notice the men all sitting around chatting. It is such a relaxed environment! Not that we didn't also see lots of people working hard, but it doesn't seem to be that work and busy-ness is URGENT like it seems to be here.
Teamwork! I wonder how long they were walking carrying that....
The countryside was dotted with little clusters of homes. You would see about 5 or so homes right near each other, and then no homes for a while.
More homes. Check out those roofs! They're pretty amazing to me!
Coming up on the Gorge
MONKEYS!!! I was soooo hoping to see some monkeys on the trip! Just chilling by the side of the road. The yellow boxes inside the fence are bee hives.
More to follow....
Awesome, so glad you got to see the countryside!
