Our last day in Ethiopia... We were so very ready to get home. It had been an emotional week. We were ready for everyone to meet Joel and ready to get down to life as usual. That being said, we were much sadder to leave Ethiopia this time. I wonder if we'll ever be able to go back to the country that has changed our lives forever...
We spent this last day doing some shopping in Addis. We went to the shopping area we'd been to before near the post office. Then we got ready for the plane ride home. Here are just some of the normal, amazing, beautiful sites of Addis.
A pretty amazing fence.
Another interesting fence.
Just a few sights of the city...
I tried to get a few shots of the people without being too intrusive... The faces are striking!
Beautiful people!
These are little boxes that guards sleep in during the night. The business owners pay the guards to stay outside their store. Sometimes a few business or even a whole street of business will go in together to pay for the guard. These little boxes are usually portable and get stored inside or behind the store during the day.
Our driver on this day, Zebena--the owner of Grace Guest House, told us that families have been found living in these little boxes. Just to give you an idea of size, I would have to scrunch up to fit in it by myself.
The Guest House--towering over the rest of the homes.
Joel and Aggie--She works at the Guest House. She's amazing. (And gorgeous...and loves Jesus!)
The door to the guest house.
Tony and Joel. Ready to head to America!
Kasey and Teddy (Lincoln). SO blessed by these two while we were there.
Zebena and Hewitt. The owners of the guest house. LOVELY people! Hewitt is a nurse and helped us get Joel healthy! So thankful for God putting them in our lives!
Waiting on our plane. This might have been the last time Joel had good sleep until we got home.
Kentucky, here I come!!!!!!! Get ready!
Then we proceeded on the longest plane ride in the history of man kind. I'm sure with was 12 times longer than our ride over there... Or at least tired parents, sleepy, cranky child, and loud, not very nice passengers next to us made it feel like the longest 18 hours EVER. Whew... we were glad to get home!
Amazing!! Can't wait to hear how the Lord has been working in the months since Joel has gotten home! Love you guys!
