5). Why adopt?

Throughout the Old Testament, God tells his people to take care of the fatherless many times. (For example--Deuteronomy 14:29 "The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, and the FATHERLESS, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do"). Obviously, the fatherless are important to God!

And in the New Testament, James 1:27 gives this definition, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." And lastly, adoption is important to God in the sense that WE are adopted into His family! John 14:18 says, "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." (Thank you, God!)

All of these things push us to take care of orphans, to feed them, to give our money to help them...

But the only reason we can give you as to why the Sutton family is adopting is this:

We feel that we, the Sutton family, would be disobedient to God if we did not adopt!

We do not think God calls all families to adopt, but we do believe that it is what God has called our family to do. So we push forward with a heart of obedience to God and pray that His will be accomplished in our lives!
